Rick Kuethe, Pianist, Composer, Healer.

 His Music Evoked the Heartland

Frederick (Rick) S. Kuethe, Jr. was born on Christmas Day, 1946 in New York City and passed away peacefully at his home in Boston, surrounded by loved ones, on June 8, 2021.

A gifted pianist from childhood, Rick grew up in Omaha, NE, where he attended Central High School, and later Grinnell College in Iowa. He then moved to Boston to study at Berklee College of Music. In his professional life Rick Kuethe was a jazz pianist, an Emmy-nominated composer, and a performing and recording artist. He owned and operated AirSound, a recording studio in downtown Boston, and produced eight albums of original music, often drawing on memories of growing up on the Great Plains. He composed for film and television, and performed in concert across the U.S. and internationally.

In 2005, Rick turned his focus to the healing arts, and developed a new career in long-distance energy therapy as a noted practitioner, author, and lecturer.

In his personal life Rick was a cherished family member to an extended, caring family, as well as a beloved friend, good neighbor, award-winning gardener, and world traveler. He is survived by his devoted wife of 41 years, Florri and their large, loving extended family.

Rick will be remembered for his intelligence, his unflagging optimism, his passion for Boston sports, his talent and creativity, his diligence, the gorgeous music he wrote, the patients whose lives he changed, his hilarious sense of humor, the stunning gardens he created, and so much more. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
